Professional flight instruction, contract pilot services, and accelerated training — from a pilot who has built over 3,000 hours in the air and holds CFI, CFII, and MEI certifications.
I'm a commercial pilot and flight instructor based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with over 3,000 hours of flight experience across Part 141 and Part 61 environments in Arizona, California, Washington, and Puerto Rico.
My background spans ab-initio airline pathway programs at Lufthansa Aviation Training USA, high-volume academies at AeroGuard, and independent instruction — giving me a deep, well-rounded perspective on how people learn to fly.
Whether you're working toward your first certificate or preparing for an airline career, I bring structure, precision, and genuine investment in every student's success.
From primary instruction to contract operations — professional aviation services built around safety, efficiency, and results.
Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, and Commercial certificates — structured training with consistent checkride preparation and real scenario-based learning.
MEI-certified instruction for multi-engine add-on ratings and commercial multi-engine preparation, including systems, V-speeds, and OEI procedures.
IFR training from ground fundamentals through partial-panel and full approach procedures. Emphasis on precision, CRM, and real-world decision making.
Available for owner-flown aircraft trips, ferry flights, and operational coverage under Part 91. Professional, reliable, and fully insured.
FAA-compliant safety pilot services for pilots maintaining instrument currency under simulated IMC. Available for VFR Day, VFR Night, and IFR operations.
Personalized guidance for pilots building toward regional airline careers — logbook strategy, ATP eligibility, interview prep, and application support.
I had a great experience with my instructor Ricardo, and I can't fully capture how impressed I was with the training. Ricardo was with me each and every day and whatever time worked. He quickly understood my ability and level of knowledge and pushed me to be achieving my best throughout. He made each lesson enjoyable and effective. I wasn't quite sure how it would work out, getting a PPL in 14 days, but the way the program is designed fully prepares you to pass your check ride. Ricardo was a great instructor and I hope to train with him again in the future!
I came after struggling through the typical "schedule with a flight instructor at a school" scenario. The flight instructors have a very busy schedule with multiple students and it is difficult for them to give you priority of focus. After 60 hours and still not being proficient enough with landing to be able to solo, I decided to go a different direction. I flew to Lincoln for a "finish up." After arriving, I spent 1 hour in the pattern with Ricardo and was landing successfully. The very next day I soloed! My experience with Ricardo was excellent! You need to come prepared to commit 100% — it is a very focused program. If you are committed the instructors will not let you down. I am very satisfied!
Montalvo Aviation is always looking to connect with motivated, professional flight instructors who share a commitment to safety, structure, and student success.
If you're a certificated CFI — whether you hold single-engine, instrument, or multi-engine instructor ratings — and you're looking for consistent students, flexible scheduling, and a professional environment to grow your hours, I'd love to hear from you.
This isn't a high-volume mill. Students here are serious, well-screened, and committed. You'll work with motivated individuals in structured programs with proper documentation and real checkride preparation.
Do you own an aircraft that's sitting underutilized? I'm actively looking to partner with aircraft owners across the United States through structured leaseback arrangements. If your aircraft is FAA-registered, we can work together — regardless of where you're based.
As a CFI/CFII/MEI with over 3,000 hours and a track record of consistent, careful operation across multiple aircraft types, I treat every aircraft I fly as if it were my own. My students are thoroughly briefed, and my instructional approach emphasizes discipline and aircraft care from day one.
Whether you're looking for a hands-off revenue stream to offset ownership costs, or simply want your aircraft flying regularly with a professional at the controls — let's talk.
Reach out directly and let's discuss how a leaseback arrangement could work for your aircraft and situation.
